About the Healthy Communities Project
Healthy Communities Project was founded in May, 2001, as a result of concern about the extensive use of lawn pesticides in Milwaukee’s Northshore communities and their potential impact on public health and the environment.
HCP’s mission is to raise awareness about the dangers of pesticide exposure and to provide information on safe and effective alternatives. In addition to offering regular natural lawn care workshops, HCP has developed and is implementing a three-year natural turf management pilot project in Whitefish Bay, WI, and is a popular natural lawn care resource in Wisconsin.
Weed-outs
HCP’s annual Santa Monica Blvd. weed-outs help control weeds on this Natural Turf Management Pilot Project area. HCP is very thankful for our dedicated volunteers and supporters!
Natural Turf Management Pilot Project
HCP, the Village of Whitefish Bay, and Earthcare Natural Lawn and Landscapes have partnered in a three-year natural turf management pilot project on three areas of village land: School House Park, Buckley Park, and the Santa Monica Blvd. medians from Silver Spring Drive to Montclaire Ave.
Workshops
HCP offers natural lawn care workshops and participates in many environmental events every year (see our events page for all upcoming events). If your organization is interested in hosting an HCP natural lawn care workshop, please contact us.
